Beckett's First Beach Trip

I drove to Salem today to see where my new job would be and how long it would take me to get there driving.  I will be driving to my job for the next month or so until Adam and I move into our apartment.  The new apartment is right by the subway system!!  Yippeee no more driving.
I drove down Highway 1A which goes right along the coast.  It was a quite chilly day and very strong winds, but I have been wanting to go the beach for sometime.  It was Beckett's first trip to the beach.  I didn't let her off the leash because all other dogs were on their leashes.  She wanted to chase the gulls and run out into the water.  However, she was scared of the waves.  It was so funny!!!  She then would chase after the waves and dig her paws in the sand.  We didn't stay out long because it was cold.  We drove for a couple of hours along the beach.  It was very beautiful.  I plan on visiting often in the summer.

Getting Here

Well I did it; I finally did it.  I (and a few others) loaded up the U-Haul attached with the tow dolly holding the RollerBlade (aka RAV4) and hit the road.  My brother, Adam; dog, Beckett; and me Ashley...all in the U-haul for the 1670 mile trip.  We left Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm and made it a little of east of St. Louis around midnight and found a place to sleep.  During our course through St. Louis we kept hearing a funny noise that sounded like an alarm and just assumed that it was the radio...oh no it wasn't....my car's alarm had been going off for who knows how long with flashing lights and honking horn.  Every bump we hit; it went off.  I had to stick the keyless entry out the window and hit the panic button to make it stop.  We ended up having to disconnect the battery.  My brother is relentless when it comes to travel.  We woke the next morning at 515am and drove for 16 hours and stopped in Scranton, Pennsylvania to sleep.  The Autumn colors were so beautiful in the mountains and rivers.
This was my first time driving a U-Haul as well as towing a trailor that long.  Okay, I can't tell you how many times that I tried to look in the rear view mirror, but guess what????  There is no rear view mirror in a U-Haul...duh!!!!!  It wasn't so bad.
Notice in this picture that the steering wheel is crooked.  For those of you that know me...raise your hand if you know that this drove me crazy!!!!

Beckett is in love with Adam.  She held his hand for most of the way.

Driving through Pennsylvania, there was snow on the ground and it was mighty cold...and no power.  We finally found a gas station with generator powered gas pumps.  We had to use the John on the Job bathrooms....DISGUSTING!!!.  The one I went in was not level and I had to spread my legs out on the ground to keep it from rocking.  Not fun.

We made it to Boston on Tuesday around 2pm.  The storage place was not convenient and no place to park, but we made it happen.

I had a hard time finding a hotel to stay in the first night.  So I should have known that the one I found was a creepy one.  Needless to say I did not sleep that night.  So I set out the next day and found a really nice extended stay hotel to stay in for the next 2 months.  It's not convenient to metro transit but I'm learning how to drive and get around okay.  Parking is not fun and hectic.

The city is beautiful and the Autumn colors are amazing!!!!  This is where I'm supposed to be.  I don't have a lot going on right now.  One I can't be spending money because I don't start my job until November 30 but I take Beckett on walks and find parks to go to.  I have been drinking plenty of Dunkin' Donuts coffee though!

Adam and I did find an apartment, signed the lease and get to move in January 1st.  It is an awesome, awesome place.  I will for sure and attach pictures.
